Hi all,

I'd like to get some comments on an idea I proposed to the DOAP mailing
list:

http://lists.usefulinc.com/pipermail/doap-interest/2004-November/000114.html

The idea being to have an RSS item contain an rdfs:seeAlso link to some
other rich XML document, along with including metadata about it.

This to have an RSS feed that makes an annoucement about a thing like a DOAP
project have a way to embed actual data that an aggregator could be using.

We're in the process of making Syndic8 understand how to look for these
rdfs:seeAlso elements and match up any in-document rdf:Description elements
about them. This to give users a way to know what feeds have more metadata
about external data.

This also to allow reader programs to have one way to look at an item and
know there's something more involved. Granted, that 'something more' will
still require the reader program to potentially know how to actually DO
something with it but at least it'll know to look.

For example, this may be a way to effectively make use of things like remote
A/V files for things like podcasting, audioblogging and the like. But
without forcing the aggregators to develop only a single-purpose interface
to them.
