I mean, don't get me wrong, anyone publishing content deserves some shot at finding out how well it's being received. It's when that expectation goes beyond reasonable and abuses the privacy of their readers that it becomes a problem. There are plenty of good ways to use clever URLs that can provide effective usage metrics. Going beyond those and into 'per view' stats on client-side activity is something any number of advertising folks would love to force on the public. The public, and softwar4e developers, have rejected the notion. Thankfully. -Bill Kearney Yahoo!
