I agree about the urgent need for a universal way of being able to 
sign up for a feed from a browser. And I agree that a self-
referencing Uri is very useful as well.

My only complaint is from a usage standpoint: I would really like a 
way to know the Uri is a feed or opml file from the HREF itself so I 
can parse an HTML document and retrieve all RSS/OPML files without 
doing a server request for each link.

And thanks for driving/communicating these issues. Even *with* the 
server request, "click subscribing" will go a LONG way to aggregator 
usability. I am very anxious to implement it in my aggregator and 
provide this functionality to my users.

One of the big advantages to this proposal (vs information in the 
HREF) is that people who list Feeds don't do anything different, and 
both the incentive (potential readers' easy subscribe) and the 
effort (conform to a spec) needed to make your feed click-
subscribable lies with the producer of the feed.
