Great stuff Randy, this looks a good step in the right direction.

I'm not sure discouraging "application/rdf+xml" for RSS 1.x feeds is
necessary or desirable, but that's another story.

"application/rss+xml" could do with a champion to do what's necessary
to get it registered...
