Pardon me if I seem too cranky about this.  I'm perhaps dragging along the
considerable baggage of past RSS-DEV mailing list thread arguments regarding
the issues of what is or isn't "broken" and how they should or shouldn't be
dealt with.

The current state of the art is MUCH improved from those days.  Vigilance
remains necessary as a great many new tools (and new developers) aren't
always up to speed on some of the historical problems and why they've been
resolved the way they are today.  Certain blogging tools and language
tagging comes to mind...

And stop wasting energies trying to twist Postel's intentions to support
lame arguments.

An RSS tool is not an HTML browser.  The two do not compare.  Unlike HTML,
RSS seeks to make great effort to separate data from presentation (encoded
HTML abominations aside).  As such there really isn't all that much about
what the spec entails that tools can't rise up to support.
