Enclosures and Message Digests (Re: Enhanced Enclosures}

With the recent discussion in podcasting circles about bandwidth,
peer-to-peer, I thought that part of the answer to any objections to
peer-to-peer system was to mark each enclosure with a message digest.
I explain my reasoning about it in my blog about it:

Being unfamiliar with the work done in this area, and searching this
group, I came across Vadim Zaliva's impressive proposal. I am
obviously a newbie in the rss area, unfamiliar with other proposals in
this area and was interested in what the group has to say (possibly
pointing me to other threads talking about enclosures). My suggestion
(referring to Vadim Zaliva's proposal would be to add an optional
messagedigest attribute  to the enc:Enclosure element(in the RSS 2.0
case) as follows:

messagedigest="b15e400c8dbd6697f26385216d32a40f.MD5"

I don't know enough about rdf namespaces to know if there is any
namespace covering message digests, and would certainly defer to the
experts in this group to come up with an elegant solution that is in
keeping with Vadim Zaliva's proposal for instance.

I know from my searches that the idea of Message Digests is not
original (see Garth T Kidd's "Podcache RSS Namespace" proposal:

group or specs that would refer to this topic.
