In fairness, my post was only asking about what's officially written
in the specification.  But to your question, my answer is yes, the rss
reader should try the same domain it got the RSS from.  If the RSS is
agregated, then I would suggest getting the domain from one of the
<link> tags, which are absolute (the spec does say that <link> and
<url> are absolute).  Why not from the link element?
