Hello again Fran, This thought came to mind but I failed to ask... When you Putty to the Linux machine WHERE ARE YOU AT? Are you at the "office" where the Linux machine is located and on the local area network? or are you "at home" and connecting over the Internet? If the answer is the second case that raises some SERIOUS security concerns.
