Thanks all. With regards to Wake-On-Lan & being on the same network... I think we can do this as...- at the main location we leave 2 Win10 PC's on 24/7.- we also run a Ubuntu Linux server there- Currently to logon from an alternate location we currently run a batch file that...- Logs on to the Linux Server via a specified port...- and then defines various local ports at the alternative location to communicate via local host to the various ip's and port 5900 at the main location...- so we may be able to log into one of the two 24/7 PC's and use Wake-On-Lan to wake up the other sleeping PC.
Also, the idea of using Windows Task Scheduler to wake up the sleeping computer is worth consideration... but would introduce an inconvenience if you needed access at other times.
Of course John mentioned the most simple solution and that is to just leave the computer on... but this might be better with a solid state drive... and just turning off the display.
Thanks for the help folks!

Wake-On-Lan is only effective if Client and Server are on same network.  If not, you may need access to another device on network as Win10 PC to wake it up.

Alternatively you can “Allow wake timers” in the power settings and wake the computer at fixed times using Windows Task Scheduler.

You can then for example access the computer between 09:00 and 17:00 and put it back to sleep again using Task Scheduler. Or wake every 4 hours for 5 minutes, whichever schedule suits the purpose. You can combine this schedule perhaps with the Windows Updates routine ;-)

All the best

Hello Fran_3,

This is an issue that TightVNC cannot solve. You could try with Wake-on-LAN. There is a lot of useful information on that online.

Oggetto: Anyway to "wake up" a "sleeping" Win10 PC with TightVNC?

At Location 1...

Instead of turning off the Win10Pro PC it is just put to sleep via clicking...

Start > Power > Sleep

it saves on power and wakes up easy by clicking Esc and/or moving the Mouse.

At Location 2

I try to connect to it using TightVNC and get...

either a message that it can't connect...

or...

"The Connection has been gracefully closed"

or...

nothing

The system is working as I can connect to another PC at the same location that is always left on...

Thanks for any help.
