TightVNC with Mint Cinnamon

I have just installed Linux Mint 20.  I am trying to use tightvncserver on
mint and tightvncviewer on windows.  I cannot figure out the correct
configuration to make it look right when I connect to it.

 

I know it centers around the xstartup configuration.  I have tried multiple
ways to get it to work.  I know I got to be missing something.

 

If I use this version:

 

#!/bin/bash

xrdb $HOME/.Xresources

startxfce4 &

 

It works but the desktop has a lot to be desired - visually and useability.
If I use this:

 

#!/bin/bash

xrdb $HOME/.Xresources

cinnamon-session &

 

I get a gray almost static looking screen which is useless

 

I have googled myself out looking but there has to be someway to do it.  I
am at the point of trying another VNC product which is a shame because I
like tightvnc a lot and use it for my Raspberry Pis.
