I know about this feature and noticed it in action (didn't change the default value). The problem is in delay. If it would be possible to omit this delay, I could set monitoring for window with tin in my windowmanager (screen) and see, talking in other window on ekg (instant messenger, popular in my country) if any new news has arrived.
