How to move a tin installation

I want to move my tin newsreading from a remote machine where I have a
Linux shell login to my home Linux machine as I now have broadband.

I copied the following files across from my $HOME directory on the
remote machine to the $HOME directory on my home machine:-

    .newsrc
    .newsauth 
    .tin (recursively, all contents)

... and it doesn't work.

When I run tin it flashes almost instantly through all the messages
about 'Authorised' and "Reading file xxx" etc. and then displays all
my newsgroup names with 'D' against them.

What have I forgotten?
