I am new to tin and am not using  any  filters.   My
current  goal  is  to  understand its basics.  In my
case, -S is working as I expect it to: it saves  all
unread  messages  and  does not change newsrc.  I am
non using -c.

And here seems to be a problem, for in the thread  I
am  interested in, all messages older than a certain
one are marked as read and newsrc is changed accord-
ingly. In consequence of running tin -R, that is.

When  run  with  -R, tin shows 164 unread messges in
that newsgroup.  But when I highlight the  newsgroup
and  press  enter it shows only that one thread with
nine messages.  When I press 'q' to get back to  the
newsgroup list, 9 instead of 164 messages are shown.
Does is it mean some default filters  may  be  doing
it?  I am sure I didn't set up any.

P.S.: And  another question: what credentials to use
      to authorize on  the  news.tin.org  server  to
      read the mailing list archive via NNTP?
