Yes, exactly 164 -- all the messages of the thread.

Oooops.  Here's what I had in it:

  comment=3DRule created by: add_posted_to_filter=3DON.
  group=3Dnews.software.readers
  case=3D0
  score=3Dhot
  msgid=3D*<[email protected]>*
  time=3D1337890762 (2012-05-24 20:19:22 UTC)

I   have   removed  the  file  (called  filter,  not
filters), but the behaviour  persists.  I  am  using
tin 1.8.3 from MacPorts.

I can login, and yank in  the  list  of  newsgroups.
But  when  I  select tin.users and press 's' to sub-
scribe for it, tin writes "Access denied",  and  ex-
its.   I have set full rights to the newsrc file for
the news.tin.org server.
