There are some PHPBB forums that I wouldn't mind monitoring via an
NNTP gateway. I see that there are some RSS->NNTP gateways out there:

<https://feedbase.org/>
<http://gwene.org/>

Honestly, I have consistently found "web forums" to be so inferior to
NNTP/usenet. I can literally read through hundreds of messages faster
in trn than I can read through one or two threads in a PHPBB style
forum. Plus usenet/NNTP doesn't have a single point of failure like
web forums.

As I've often said, many people confuse the words "new" and "improved".
