I think you're missing something, but I'm not sure
what.  I had virtual hosting working fine on a port
other than 80.  Unfortunately its hard to tell what
exactly is misconfigured with tux.  I'd say its
probably your virtual hosting thats set up wrong, and
it works on port 80 because its getting passed through
to Apache and that's actually doing the serving.
