looks like the problem is solved. It seems you cannot change documentroot
while Tux is running or problems will happen.

What I did:

* stop Tux
* edit /etc/conf.d/tux to set the documentroot
* start Tux
* set virtual_host and strip_host_tail

It seems to be working now.
