Hi -

Due to some other priorities in my personal life, I was not able to
continue work on ubh during 2003. Since the 3.0 beta was quite stable
and bug-free, I didn't see the need to make a full release.

I've now started using ubh again in the past 2 months, and I will
finalize 3.0 with an official release sometime in the first half of
this year (2004).

I've already spoken to Ben about this directly. This sounds very
interesting and I'd to learn more about it. In particular, I'd like
to know if PostgreSQL will be deployed on the Windows platform. I saw
some HOW-TO information for building/running it on Windows. Can anyone
tell me, in their experience, if it is possible or practical to do this?
Specifically, how difficult is to to install in comparison to MySQL?

What I was planning on doing was to analyze the existing MySQL implementation
and strip out of ubh as much as possible of the unnecessary features.
For example, now that we are in the era of a buck a gigabyte, could
ubh be made faster if we relax some of the restrictions that seem
to be doing extra work to purge headers (and just use the normal
server expiration). Things like that.

Parallel header download (specifically, multiple running instances of
ubhdb) would be really nice to have. As I recall, this is not currently
possible; though it might have been at one time during development, it
was scrapped in favor of being able to assemble parts from different
groups.

Happy new year!
