minimizing header traffic

Hi,

I have been happily using ubh 2.5 for some time.
I use comcast/giganews and now have a 1 GB/month download
limit. I hit the limit this month, and when looking
at the log, noticed that 30% was header downloads(!) I'm
wondering if newer versions of ubh can reduce this, and
if not, what strategies I can use to reduce the header
traffic, short of scanning fewer newsgroups or paying giganews
for a higher limit.
