My view is that packaging systems should be building from source, not
repackaging CI artifacts, which are for CI, and just happen at the
moment to be useful to users.  The CI system is troubled by supporting a
small fraction of systems, and platforms are frequently desupported.
It's entirely possible the mac CI builds will stop being provided.  This
could happen when we migrate away from github, depending on the new CI
approach.  It's possible that migration will result in a reduction in
CI, especially for non-Free systems.  (No, there is no decision on where
to go or when, but there is an open issue to move.)

The thing to fix is to have a manual release artifact, and then remove
the manual from the OS/CPU specific artifacts.  There's an open ticket
that I linked, which is awaiting a PR.  That's a common theme in many
tickets!
