This shouldn't be necessary, as you correctly pointed out that Name .*
also ignores .unison. If this made any difference (but we know it
didn't) then it would be a bug.

This typically means one of two things. Either there are multiple
unison processes running at the same time or the previous run ended in
a crash (or a hang, which is really the same as multiple processes in
parallel).

It is visible from the debug output that the lock file appears on the
server. Is this always the case when you run into this problem?
