Re: Corrupted file names

Hello,

I removed the two temporary files generated by unison and ran again the 
same sync job concerning a ntfs directory under Ubuntu 22.04 and its 
clone on an external SSD drive ntfs partition.

No more problems with the above files, but I still got an error with an 
additional file:

    Error in querying file information:
    Erreur d'entrée/sortie
    [lstat(/media/john/Data/Documents/Garmin/MapSetToolkit/MapSetToolKit.txt.ntfs-3g-0000000001)]

The file 
//media/john/Data/Documents/Garmin/MapSetToolkit/MapSetToolKit.txt.ntfs-3g-0000000001/ 
does not exist on either root so that I guessed that was is somewhere in 
the unison replicas. I saw that the only recently changed replica files 
were entitled ar3aabee96dbcdc179ae1769fc917ea5c1, 
fp3aabee96dbcdc179ae1769fc917ea5c1, arbd901170b9eff5ee2d43ca8e754a696c 
and fpbd901170b9eff5ee2d43ca8e754a696c. I deleted these and rescanned (a 
lot of time lost for 70 GB of data) but again get the same error message 
for the same file.

So I went into Windows and ran chkdisk and found that there was indeed 
and index problem with the above file. Once fixed everything syncs OK. I 
am not sure whether this file corruption problem happened at the same 
time as the similar ones reported on 20 February or later.

Quite disturbing and annoying, still no clear idea about why it happened 
and what to do? Even if there is no direct incrimination of unison, 
perhaps it is possible that the high volume IO is enough to push the 
Ubuntu management of ntfs beyond its limit? I will post further news if 
the problem continues.
