I'm good with that, but as far as I know, how the ar* names are
calculated from the sync roots is not documented.  One could start a
dummy sync between the new roots, then abort it, and look at the names
of file debris left behind ...  But To Do It Right, either there needs
to be code in the distribution that does this operation, or the
documentation needs to commit to an algorithm for generating the file
names.
