You don't need to use UNISONLOCALHOSTNAME (which is the name for the
environment variable). It's easier to use the "clientHostName"
preference, which you can just include in your profile configuration.
You can set this preference to any value, the value itself is of no
importance. The preference (and the env var) exists just to provide a
stable value (any value) over an unstable hostname (if that's indeed
the cause of your issue).

If the issue you're seeing is due to hostname (and we don't know that
yet) then this is a consequence of the way Unison derives the name of
the archive files, even for just a local sync. This will cause
problems if the computer does not have a stable hostname.
