Yes the entire NTFS data partition is broken so the problem is not 
related to unison.

Just in case someone else has had a similar experience or an idea: I 
have a dual boot system with Ubuntu 22.04 and Windows 10, and the 
problem apparently occurred when I updated Windows 10 which now gives me 
a blue screen saying that it is unbootable. Ubuntu is working fine 
expect that it I can read but not write to NTFS files. I get the feeling 
that the problem may be related to Secure Boot DBX since I have recently 
been getting messages in Ubuntu to update it which does not succeed, and 
a bug in this facility long caused problems with dual-boot systems
