I'm not sure if that matches the question's use case. Root A being
"read-only" does not necessarily imply that any changes appearing on that
side are to be marked by default for propagation to root B. If that is what
you want, James, excellent, use "force ROOT"*.

But if the intent is "only propagate stuff changed in root A, if other
criteria mark it for propagation; if anything in root B is changed, leave
it alone in 'read-only' root A", then you should instead look at the
options "noupdate ROOT" and possibly "nodelete ROOT"*.
