The file README.md in the sources is meant to explain what the program
can do, vs how to use it, and it's very tricky to avoid turning it into
a tutorial.  But indeed it is not capable of synchronizing from one
side.  (If it were, we'd need to explain what it relied on, as the
closest thing to portable cross-machine file access is sshfs or sftp).

Do you know of any cross-machine synchronization tools that can function
by being installed on only one machine?

I've opened a PR adding a few words to the man page, and am leaving
propagating those to README and aligning the README contents and the
manpage for a future step.
