All, Its been awhile, but John at least has been busy. We have two new releases I hope you'll find useful. STABLE: 1.0.4 is the latest stable release, and it features: - A bug fix to make src rpms work as they should - Many documentation updates - Small changes to the example client cron job to make it work better. This is the release we recommend for production work. DEVELOPMENT: This is going to sound weird, but hang with me. We've set aside the 1.1.0 tree for now, as a number of people (including but not limited to John and myself) needed a Current that scaled MUCH better than the 1.0 release. We needed scalability far more than we needed the management features that sql will eventually provide. So, we've set aside the 1.1.0 release (sql) for now, and have instead worked out the first apache/mod_python release (1.3.0). 1.3.0 does work in testing, and _should_ work MUCH better for those of you trying to use Current with many many clients. As always, we still consider this release development, but for those of you with big sites, give it a try. The roadmap file has been updated, and when 1.3.0 goes production (in 1.4), the plan is to pick the sql patch back up. It should forward port without too much trouble, actually) You'll need an independant apache server (one thats NOT also a web server) and mod_python and mod_ssl to make this work. Please try it out, and let the list know your results. A round of applause for John - he did all of this work. DETAILS: We're still using bitkeeper, and having just done a 3 way merge with it, I like it a lot. If you use bitkeeper, and want to grab our tree(s), they are: bk://stenia.biology.duke.edu/current-1.0 bk://stenia.biology.duke.edu/current-1.3 and bk://stenia.biology.duke.edu/stable (which points to 1.0 right now) and bk://stenia.biology.duke.edu/development (which points to 1.3) If you still want to grab the sql patch, its bk://stenia.biology.duke.edu/current-1.1 Naturally, if you don't want to use bk, tar balls of all these releases are on the ftp site. Please use -ruN on your diffs to the list. -- Hunter Matthews Unix / Network Administrator Office: BioScience 145/244 Duke Univ.
