Yes, I got it working. The big change from the 6.0 instructions (in my previous message) is that you need to install newt 0.50 from Red Hat 6.1, as well as RH 6.1's versions of all the packages that complain that they need newt 0.40. This also means uninstalling rhs-hwdiag and, at your discretion, installing kudzu instead. The traceback now is from the XFree86-3.3.5-1.6.0.i386.rpm package from the 6.0 errata. (I'm pretty sure this is a clean tree.) I don't remember the exact text, but it looks similar to the one from RH 6.1's raidtools package. Now that I have 6.0 working as a client, I'm making an attempt with 5.1. I fully expect this to fail, but that's what I thought about running up2date 2.7/2.8 on RH 6.0 a few hours ago, so stay tuned... (BTW, I'm not just doing this for my curiosity -- I have real reasons for doing this. In a more ideal world I'd just force everyone to upgrade to RH 7.3, or at least 6.2, but I don't have that kind of power at my site.) -Barry K. Nathan <[email protected]>
