I don't know if this is relevant to your situation, but there's a good chance it is, so here goes: RPMs have something called an "epoch". A higher (newer) epoch number means the package is considered to be newer even if there's another package with a lower epoch but otherwise a higher version number. The epoch number tends to not be in the filename though. It's possible that the Red Hat postfix packages have an increased epoch for whatever reason. -Barry K. Nathan <[email protected]>
