In short, because it isn't supported, tested, developed, or (as of yet)
even thought about for 8.0 use as a server platform.  There are
significant API changes, not to mention the basic change from Python
1.5.x to Python 2.x in the 7.3 -> 8.0 change, and Hunter and I haven't
had the time to make the server portion 8.0-ready.
