Re: Updating with current

With the present versions of current, you can't, directly.

RHN itself has a push mechanism (which is what you need here). Current
doens't support that yet.

As a stopgap on my own network, I have created two (so far) "meta"
packages that contain nothing but dependancies. I make sure during the
kickstart install that that one or both of these "meta" packages are
installed on every machine in my department. 

biology-base 1.0-1
   contained nothing, provided nothing, but required 
   joe
   binutils
   etc etc

Anytime I want to add a package to every machine in the department, I
add a new requirement to the biology-base spec file, rebuild it with a
new version number, and let current/up2date's builtin mechanisms update
it. Up2date has a sane dependancy solver, so the new dependancy is
installed along with the new version of biology-base.

I also have one specifically for the workstations, which includes more
user level programs and science appliations. (biology-base goes on
everything, even servers, so I'm rather conservative what goes in it)

This is a hack: current should support push, but we don't yet, so this
is what I came up with.
