Question, soud redirection to my terminal

It feels odd to use server without beeps etc
I Just wrote test program for capturing the 
Microphone or "Mono Mix" to have feedback from 
remote computer (works, but had to be opened separately
and addresses had to be manually placed). 

Is this new thing or is there better solution?
