And light up their logs like a Christmas tree...

Seems like a bad idea to me.

If its legitimate then ask the corporate types what ports you can use. 
If its not legitimate, better go slow and knock on one port at a time, 
over a period of time.  Otherwise you might show up on some logs and 
people start asking questions.

Using tunnel to go over port 443 might be an option.
