I've acquired part-time access to a copy of VC++, and consequently built 
a copy of my patch which not only compiles, but appears to *work* as well.

Still no feedback from Sam since the last, demonstration-level 
submission (which I posted on the forum)... if you have any input, or 
(if you think the API as I'm submitting it is acceptable) some means for 
reliably contacting Sam, that would be good.
