RealVNC on Linux/Unix is still a viable option, with the viewer running on Windows, including Vista and Win7. Running the RealVNC service on Windows is no longer viable, and you will need to move on to a different distribution like the rest of us, such as UltraVNC. The free version of Real hasn't supported a modern Windows platform for years, even with XP it never supported Fast User Switching or RDP access.
