'helo' from an interested party

Greetings,

I've recently become interested in the potential for 802.11* area networks.
As a software developer living in Redwood City I've worked a bit on the
Freenet project, and later for a Peer-to-Peer software company doing
distributed search and storage.  The ability to literally connect to your
peers resonates with me in a lot of ways (I've dropped ethernet to my
immediate neighbors).  I'm specifically interested in the larger problems of
connecting adjacent community networks together and routing between them
(I'm getting a lot of resistance from networking experts and PHDs on the
feasibility of this, but I persist).

I've read through your site and you seem to have the kind of large but
practical vision I like.  I generally join a mail list and read it for a
while before writing anything but I've seen no email traffic in a week.  Is
this project active and ongoing?  Do you have regular meetings that I could
attend?  In general I would like more information about your goals, current
tasks etc.  Is the picture found at
http://www.barwn.org/pres/BARWN-Twin_Peaks-20030325/img17.html a vision or a
reality?  Are you looking to add more nodes to your network?
