Woah, didn't realize 106 people were subscribed to this quiet list ;) Maybe we can pull a few folks together for a weekend of testing various proposed links. Ideally, we could get together around 10AM, some of us equipped with 200mW NICs, 24dBi directional antennas and cars to farry around. Below is a short list of possible future nodes and what needs to be tested: ...60 Federal/SF (United Layer) - Richey on DeHaro St Currently installed node SSID: BARWN-Public MAC: 00:02:6f:03:ae:69 - Treasure Island/YBI Will need someone to act as an AP at the other end - AlamedaWireless (bridge blocking view?) They can likly hit the Bruno node from Alameda Point (former NAS) <http://www.barwn.org/images/20030519_bruno/P5190024.html> - Berkeley (SSID: DarkerSun.*) Mix commerical/free network in the Berkeley Hills, they'd like to peer with BARWN (bandwidth c/o 45Mb WMUX link to InReach in Oakland) - West Oakland My home, can share some of a T1 ...200 Paul/SF (Neutral Colo) - Bruno - Candlestick Point Surly will work, but then what can see this (besides Bruno)? ...Hunters Point Someone to follow-up with communtiy center, also are the artists still against Internet? We know this links to Bruno fine. ...Sign Hill (City of SSF) "The Industrial City" hill, xmas tree hill during the holidays - Bruno Likly blocked to our current Bruno node ...Farallon Islands <http://www.barwn.org/images/030205_bruno/south_sf.html> Someone is needed to make contact with them, are they intrested, does funding exist for hardware to connect, can we use them as a relay to the north/south, etc. -- Matt Peterson another.geek.without.a.life [email protected] http://matt.peterson.org/ -------------------------------------------------
