That option is for bridging packets between the wired and wireless interface
on the AP versus using routing/NAT. That's different than the wireless
bridging (packets going from one AP to another) you were asking about
earlier.

To further complicate the issue, this guy

offers a java-based "configurator" for the AirPort. This app has a
panel which allows you to change bridging options for the *stock*
AirPort to have it "Act as a transparent bridge (no NAT)" or "Provide
Network Address Translation (NAT)".
So the AirPort *can* do bridging without firmware updates?
