Your 5' pigtail would have a loss of 3 dB. 5 feet is not _so_ bad for an LMR-100 cable, but go as short as you possibly can. You did not say what your application was going to be. I think that's important. If you're going to do a permanent outdoor installation, don't use LMR-100 for the whole length; it's too delicate. Use a short length of LMR-100 and match it to a 4' lentgh of LMR-195. The LMR-195 has much lower loss and is much more durable. On the other hand. If this is going to be a cable that you carry around for antenna/signal "testing", a single 5' length is better. Attaching any kind of heavier coax to the pigtail in a non-permanent setup runs the risk of stressing and damaging the tiny Orinoco connector.
