Thanks very much for this info. Now, one volunteer has this afternoon 
tried Ubuntu Linux with the cards... successfully!

He also tried Knoppix without success... I'm not sure yet what version. 
Another volunteers has loaded Red Hat on several of the computers but 
not yet had a chance to test the card. Will provide an update later along.
