Multiple wireless devices operating in one PC

Howdy BAWUGgers!
         I'm writing to inquire about anyone's experiences or knowledge 
reguarding using more than one wireless network card  simultaneously in one 
PC.  I have had more than one card (actually a pci card and usb adapter) 
installed  on my computer and I did locate and connect to several networks.  
Butit is not clear as to weather, overall, it helped or hindered my  
wireless networking.   If anyone has factual information on this topic or 
could refer me to some literature on the subject I would be greatly 
appreciative.  Thank you.
