PC Speaker and dwepcrack theory

I have a Dell Latitude CPi laptop. I don't have X installed at all, as I do
everything I need to from the command prompt. I can't figure out how to get
dstumbler to use the laptop's PC speaker for audio. Whenever I enable sound
in dstumbler I get this error: "error: unable to open speaker device: Device
not configured". Can someone give me an idea of where to start?

I also have a question about dwepcrack. If I have a dual-processor machine,
would it be better to specify -j 2, -j 20, or other? What would be the
optimal number of processes? Also, knowing little about this, it would seem
logical that a smaller log file would be easier to brute force as opposed to
a large one. Is this true? Can anyone suggest some documentation/reading
online as a start?

Thanks
Aaron
