I can confirm this.  I had trouble with my original firmware (v. 6.14 I think it
was).  I've since updated to the latest and monitor mode works quite well, in
fact it's cleared up some errors in dstumbler I was getting in OBSD when I quit
dstumbler (I've tested both on OBSD 3.2 and FBSD 4.7).

Anyhow, here's my dmesg now with the updated f/w:
