About NetBSD and BSD Air tools

  Hello, I'm very interested by BSD air tools, but unfortunaly,
I was not able to install it on a NetBSD system. The source-mod
module fail to patch my kernel source.

Since I'm using NetBSD 1.6 and BAT seem to be designed to work
with NetBSD 1.5.1, I have downloaded kernel sources of
NetBSD 1.5.1, 1.5.2 and 1.5.3.

The patch fail partially on NetBSD 1.6 1.5.2
but fail completly on NetBSD 1.5.1  1.5.3 ( /usr/src/sys/dev/ic/{wi.h,wivar.h}
doesn't exist)

I'm using a orinoco silver card on dell inspiron 4100 laptop.

I have quickly read the mailing list archive, but I have not seen
anything concerning this problem.

Finally my questions are:
- what is the purpose of source-mods ? modifying kernel source
   in order that other BAT program run properly or just adjust
   some ioctl in order that any wireless card is seen as a PRISMII based ?
- is anybody using NetBSD and BAT can quickly explain what I have missed ?
- If I finally decide to change my OS, what is between FreeBSD
   and OpenBSD the most compliant with BAT ?
