For future reference, the easy way to see if they do weak IV filtering is to modify the program to count the simple weak IVs. If there aren't any (or extremely few), it's probably doing filtering. Based on this, at least one 3COM AP does weak IV filtering. The Atmel-based SMC7004VWBR does not, nor do the Atmel-based PC cards, at least the revisions I have. As for brute force, you need to make sure you don't have any packets in there from other sources. I've also seen some very small (too small to be IP) packets; I don't know what they are but they will mess up a crack attempt because they don't have the proper bytes in the header.
