I'm not sure if anyone is actively working on it, but there are
people who care.  I'm just way swamped.

It appears that some of the relevant files underwent some major
rototillage, and I wasnt quite sure how to reimplement the code
changes back when I used to have time.  If you (or someone else)
does the work, I'm willing to verify and commit.
