how long does wep crack take

hi,

i am using bat on a openbsd 3.2 laptop with a prism2 card (compaq wl100) =
and
dstumbler works fine with:

ifconfig wi0 up
prism2ctl wi0 -m
dstumbler wi0 -o

I get the AP in my house, it is a DWL 900AP+.
But when i try to crack my WEP key (40bit), it takes years to capture eno=
ugh
packets. after several hous, with a lot of traffic in my network i have a
few hundred packets. is this normal?
wat i do is:

ifconfig wi0 up
wicontrol wi0 -p 3 -f 6
prism2ctl wi0 -m
dwepdump -w wi0 (-a does not work at all!)

is this correct? whey i try "prism2dump wi0" i get A LOT of packets runni=
ng
by.=20
But what sounds strange to my is the output of "wicontrol wi0"
There is "Promiscuos mode [Off]" listed ion the output. is this normal? I
think it is enabled anyways, bacuse dstumbler works fine, but who knows. =
is it
possible to enable promiscuos mode with wicontrol, too? did not find an
answer in the man page.
