This could be Matt's problem.

FreeBSD has the same (and had it before NetBSD if memory serves right,
since we had it before the hack hostap stuff was comitted to NetBSD
and it is required to get HostAP + bridging to work at all).  That's
not to say that there aren't other bugs in the FreeBSD driver, but
this one isn't it.
