I have confirmed that Windows XP 802.11 drivers will pass traffic in a =
bridging fashion when used in ad-hoc mode with the bridging driver =
installed. It may be out-of-spec, but it exists.

The IEEE makes the specification available for download 6 months after =
ratification at http://standards.ieee.org/getieee802/802.11.html. You =
can read up on the MAC and PHY for .11, .11a, .11b and .11d there.
